Reasons Why Astrology Should be Given Serious Consideration

Astrology is an ancient practice that studies the synchronicity between celestial movement and human events- physical, environmental and mental. To the modern person the concept of astrology may sound bizarre or even outlandish -especially if one has been raised in a culture in which the practice of astrology has either been forbidden, forgotten, ridiculed or relegated to the sun sign columns in the newspaper. However, the profuse cross cultural and historically longstanding existence of the concept of astrology should give any intellectual person cause to wonder what the subject is truly about.

Despite the different types and variations of astrology (because of its widespread and enduring appeal) what seems to be common amongst all forms of astrology is the idea that is described by the hermetic maxim As Above So Below. For example: the ancient Egyptians built their reverence for their relationship with the cosmos right into the very structure of their cities and great pyramids.

the precession of the equinoxes that dates to over 10,000 years ago- a possibility historians had not dreamt of until its discovery. It seems we are constantly uncovering reasons to rethink our viewpoints of ancient people and possibly our understanding of time altogether. Astrology is very much woven into the fabric of this discussion.

In the twenty-first century science has taught us nothing if it has not taught us how little we actually know.

With the help of the giant particle colliders such as the Large Hadron Collider in Geneva Switzerland physicists have revealed that at the nucleus of the atom, the fundamental building block of matter, we find a dynamic vibrating balance of high energy forces.

We may conclude then, as ironic as it may seem, that if all matter is made up of atoms, and atoms are essentially energy, that all matter is essentially energy. This concept was written about thousands of years ago in the ancient Vedas and called ‘Nada Brahman‘. Nada Brahman states that the universe is vibration, the vibratory field is at the root of all true spiritual experience and all scientific inquiry.

The ancient Vedas also wrote of the practice of astrology. Jyotisha is the traditional Hindu system of astrology. The Vedanga Jyotisha is one of the earliest texts about astronomy within the Vedas. The concept of ‘bandhu‘ of the Vedas is consistent with the sage hermetic maxim ‘As Above So Below.

As science has confirmed that energy and vibration are at the base of virtually everything and our reverence for the wisdom of the knowledge of the ancients grows with each new discovery, this is the perfect time for people to realize and utilize the gift that is their astrological birth chart. By reflecting truths like a celestial mirror the natalAstrology Charts chart describes the basic energetic vibrations that an individual brings into this life and the seed potential promised in a person’s life. In this way astrology can help clarify for an individual what is going on at any particular time through reflection -not through (as some may fear) a kind of ‘cosmic puppetry’. Astrology is the ancient study of a type of celestial symmetry; it does not rely on a belief system. In the same way as the tides rise and fall with the pull of the moon, your natal chart with all its progressions and transits exists and carries on whether you ever notice it or not.

Built on the foundation of As Above, So Below, astrology is a mathematical language of symbols in which numerous ancient geometric techniques are used to assess energy. Many of these techniques are thousands of years old and the mechanism under which they work remains elusive. The trend for heightened appreciation of the wisdom of the ancients is concurrent in the study of astrology with an increased return to Hellenistic Astrology in the west in the past quarter of a century with the invaluable work of project hindsight.

The basic nature of quantum physics is not the only area that remains elusive to scientists today. The success quantum mechanics has had in working with the subatomic realms of reality is paralleled by the achievements accomplished using the insights of general relativity (thanks to Albert Einstein) to understand the largest realms of reality. However, currently the two theories do not work together; there is a puzzle piece missing. Quantum physics should be applicable to everything made up of atoms , yet when you try to apply the laws of quantum mechanics to gravity it literally just doesn’t seem to add up.

M-theory tries to resolve the problem by postulating that the higher energy predicted by quantum theory does actually exist, it just exists beyond the four dimensions with which general relativity actually measures. M-theory postulates that the universe in which we exist is a relatively small three dimensional ‘brane’ – and other very large ‘branes’ that are two dimensional also exist; all of which together make up our cosmos.  (It is within these other very large two dimensional branes that the additional energy resides).

Geese migratingUnderstanding how the quantum laws apply to the biology of living creatures and the natural world is yet another huge challenge Isolating quantum behavior in living creatures is much harder than isolating it in the lab because of the myriad of other processes going on. However, once again, since quantum physics is describing the behavior of atoms and we are all made up of atoms it goes without saying that living creatures are using quantum processes all the time, we just aren’t sure how.  Essentially, we have opened a multi-dimensional Pandora’s box of what we don’t understand with the quantum level of reality, but that’s ok, because we still know more than we did before we opened the box, we just now realize how much more there is to know.

We do not yet understand the mechanism behind Astrology. I would not be surprised however to learn that there is a quantum physics component to how the mechanisms in astrology work. When trying to understand astrology

from a theoretical/scientific viewpoint it seems to fall into a much larger debate of randomness vs order: what underlies the process of creation? I believe Astrology is able to tap into a level of order in the universe that science does not comprehend yet. As we progress in science we are learning that much of what we have assumed about our physical reality may be wrong.
