Mercury in the Natal Chart of Marie Curie – Celestial Chimes Astrology

Mercury in the Natal Chart of Marie Curie

Marie Curie (Mercury in the 12th House)
Maria Sklowdowska-Curie, ca. 1894

Mercury represents our intellect, our ability  to think, to learn, to reason and to communicate.  Mercury’s house placement indicates a field of experience in which the mind is constantly active and we may crave regular mental exchange with others about. Marie Curie’s Mercury is at 6 degrees Sagittarius 38minutes in the 12th house. The 12th house is thought of as the house of what is hidden 0r unclear and is traditionally related to karma, lossunknown enemies and even ‘one’s undoing‘.  The 12th house  however, has a feel similar to the planet Neptune and the sign Pisces in which there is a loss of boundaries and energies merge sometimes revealing their true source or configuration. This can make the twelfth house a place where  things can become both less clear and more transparent at the same time. When manifested positively this type of experience can bring empathy, compassion, intuition, transcendence and spiritual service. This is why the 12th house represents spiritual places and retreats like ashrams and monasteries as well as institutions, prisons, hospitals and work done in any of these places.

The zodiac sign Mercury is in indicates the way  we think and communicate.  Sagittarius desires to understand the ULTIMATE MEANING OF LIFE through understanding THE BIG PICTURE. Sagittarian energy is mutable (flexible), positive and adventurous. Marie Curie’s mind was occupied with the big picture and we can safely say with the welfare of others. (Mercury mind in Sagittarius BIG PICTURE in the 12th house empathy for the collective) She utilized her personal resources to contribute to collective knowledge while also trying to bring about highly specialized innovations in her field. (Jupiter need to improve in Aquarius personal ingenuity in the 2nd house personal resources rules brings about Mercury knowledge in Sagittarius BIG PICTURE in the 12th house collective, Mercury mind rules brings about North Node new area in Virgo highly specific in the 9th house higher learning The energy Mercury drew from Jupiter was in the sign Aquarius which  brought with it a revolutionary vibe and a humanitarian end goal In turn Mercury used the energy and resources available to it in the 12th house to  bring about the indications of  the 6th house of SERVICE in Gemini and the 9th house of HIGHER LEARNING in Virgo

The Mind of Marie Curie..

Marie Curie’s relentless resolve and insatiable curiosity made her an icon in the world of modern science. Indefatigable despite a career of physically demanding and ultimately fatal work, she discovered polonium and radium, championed the use of radiation in medicine and fundamentally changed our understanding of radioactivity.”

'Petite Curie' mobile x-rays

“Marie Curie during World War 1 in one of the mobile radiography units (“Petites Curies”) she developed to better serve injured soldiers. Marie Curie directed the installation of 20 mobile radiological vehicles and another 200 radiological units at field hospitals in the first year of the war.

In 1915, Curie produced hollow needles containing “radium emanation”, a colourless , radioactive gas given off by radium, later identified as radon, to be used for sterilizing infected tissue. She provided the radium from her own one-gram supply. It is estimated that over a million wounded soldiers were treated with her x-ray units.

Promptly after the war started, Marie Curie attempted to donate her gold Nobel Prize medals to the war effort but the French National Bank refused to accept them. Instead she bought war bonds using her Nobel Prize money ( knowing full well that the money would be lost).”
