'The Projections of One's Less Conscious Self'

“In contrast to ancient astrology, where the seventh house represents the objective actual other partner or person in one’s life, the contemporary psychological approach views the seventh house as the projections of one’s less conscious self. The sign of the Ascendant and first-house planets are the conscious persona, the integrated, familiar, and acceptable parts of the personality that a person is comfortable expressing. The sign of the Descendant and the seventh-house planets represent the less-conscious, unknown, unfamiliar , uncomfortable, unacceptable or even frightening qualities of the self that a person is unable to express as their own.”

' The Energies one puts into as well as receives from Relationships'

“The planets in the seventh may describe the energies one puts into as well as receives from intimate relationships. The difference between the seventh and the first is that first-house energies are generally broadcast to the world at large as the individual encounters it, whereas seventh-house energies are put out only into close relationships….. It is not possible to say from a natal chart alone whether a person will manifest the energies in the seventh house in terms of action or experience. Most people seem to experience seventh-house energies as other people, but an astrologer cannot safely assume this. This is a situation where the astrologer is better off asking that trying to figure it out.”

'Personal Relationships, Open Enemies, Business Partnerships and Court Cases'

Key area of life: personal relationships;business partnerships and court cases.

“Traditionally this house represents the area of persoanl relationships, and can reveal your need, desires, and expectations in a relationship. This house reveals the nature of possible projections in relationships…This house refers to all that is open. There are no secrets with the 7th house. It symbolized open enemies, court cases and business partnerships as these are legal relationships between two or more people.”

'Old Age, Death or with the Quality of Death'

“In terms of the different stages of life, it is usually said to indicate old age, or events and circumstances that take place later in life in general. Some Authors following Hermes associate the seventh with death, and the quality of death, probably since this is where the Sun and other planets disappear from view each day, symbolically dying before being reborn again when they reemerge from beneath the earth at the Ascendant.
